Winnipeg Fishing Video by SeriousNews

Sometimes you have to look at new ways to produce video content.

This was a video intro to a fishing show called "The Manitoba Bass Anglers Tournament of Champions".  The challenge was we didn't have much footage to work with.  So I had to use some tricks.  The animated trophy was used as a break between cuts.

I went high impact with it.  Inspired 100% by the UFC.  One of the interesting things I found that worked was to reverse the footage when an angler puts a fish back in the water.

When you reverse it - it looks like the angler is catching the fish with his hands and pulling it into the boat.  Its a good technique that I don't see used on other fishing shows.  Of course adding a UFO into one of the shots was a bit crazy.

Let me know what you think of the video.

Online Advertising Videos in Winnipeg

This is an example of some short online advertising videos.  They are about 17 - 20 seconds long.
Each video is designed around a single keyword or search phrase people would use when searching for your services.  Instead of having 1 single video with all your services.  I create a short video for each service.  This way I have a much better chance to directly target a potential client.  I've made them for a few clients already.  The first thing you need to do is research the keywords for the client.  Find out what people are typing into google.  Once you get the top 10, make a video for each one.  These videos are also good to put on your website under the appropriate category.  I think its a good service to offer clients to give them a stronger video presence on the web.  Here is a link to my site with a few more.

Let me know some of your ideas you would use for online video advertising.

SEO Videos Winnipeg

As a video producer i've noticed a trend in the request from clients.  Years ago it was all about producing dvd's. Then it was followed by the more current trend of clients wanting videos embedded on their website.  While its nice to produce a single video and have it on your website, I can't help but think that one video just isn't enough to fit in all the products and services you want.  The other problem with producing a single video is the benefits - or lack of - for search engine rankings.  One video can only be indexed for so many search terms.  Assuming your company has 5-10 services, you won't get the benefits of good search results with a single video.

Innovative Ideas of Video Production in Winnipeg

This led me to consider a new modern style of video for my clients.  In order to come up with this idea and move into the future I needed to bring back the best of the past.  I come from a television production background and one of the more popular and cost effective ads were short 5-10 second "stingers".  You'd jump in say your message and get out.  It was fast, it was effective, and clients loved the price.  I decided this was the way I was going to approach this type of video.  While we weren't doing this for television anymore I needed to give it a modern spin for the internet.  This is where keywords came into play.  The videos had to be short, fast, and contain the keywords necessary to get to the right audience.

I call this modern style of video "Keyword Rich Video Production".

Here is what the videos contain:
  • Length: 10-20 seconds
  • Opening graphics/logos.
  • Typography to match the voice over
  • Voice Over
  • Background audio (Usually an addictive track if possible)
  • Closing page with all contact information/taglines etc.
  • Example 1
  • Example 2
  • Website
Each video would be targeted to a specific keyword or search term.
When it is all finished the client would have 10 short videos.  Each video would contain the keywords or search term of a single product or service.  This would allow a viewer to find a video that exactly matches their search.
The video would direct the viewer to contact them through phone or email and a link to the company website would be in the video description.

Costs

One of the best parts about this style of video production is the costs.  The cost isn't a deal breaker for clients. From a production standpoint you only have to create one look or template for the videos.  Then change keywords, typography and taglines to match the other keywords and search terms.

Search Engine Optimization Potential

The SEO potential of these videos are huge.  They are effective alone on your youtube channel plus Google will index them and give you a nice big thumbnail in their search results.  You can also double or triple them up by submitting the same videos to youtube, dailymotion, and metacafe.  I have the same video indexed back to back on google.  One from youtube and one from daily motion.
Another Good Feature
Another good feature about these videos are since they are keyword/search term driven, they appear to look like a search result rather then an advertisement.

Conclusion on "Keyword Rich Video Production"

With the current attention span of users online at the level it is and the extreme amount of competition, these videos are a perfect fit for any company looking to move up and occupy the top pages of google and other top search engines.

3 Types of Video Production that Clients in Winnipeg are Asking For

While there are virtually thousands of blog posts about video production, very few target client needs from a perspective of geographic location. I thought it would be informative to provide the people and businesses of Winnipeg some insight of what types of video production services I get asked about most.

#1 Website Videos

These videos are the most popular and there is no sign of it slowing down.
All the videos listed below could be considered “website” videos. The ones I’m speaking about here are videos that play on the homepage of your website.
These videos typically consist of:
  • Half day – Full day shoot
  • One to Three minutes in length
  • Branded intro and closing segments
  • Interviews with management/owners of the company
  • B-Roll footage
  • Titles/graphics/animations
  • Background music
While most clients ask for a single video, I always try and create a video that can also be re-edited into smaller segments.  This will give the client a single master copy for the website and also several smaller more targeted videos for their social media platforms.  When the videos are complete they are uploaded to a company youtube channel and easily put on their website and other social media platforms.

#2 Real Estate Videos – Selling Property and Agent information

Video and the Real Estate Industry go hand in hand.  In the past, video production was too expensive to make filming property viable.  Now as more agents enter the Winnipeg real estate market they are looking for a way to separate themselves from competitors.
Real Estate videos typically consist of:
  •      Footage shot of a current property
  •      Graphics and titles
  •      Branded segments of the agent
  •      Background music
  •      Full video tour of the property
While this style of video is still developing I find it split between agents and private sales when it comes to a client base for this type of video.  I believe video will soon be a standard for property marketing as it gives the best perspective.
It also allows the seller/agent to incorporate branding, and other information while still controlling the message of the video.  With the real estate market booming in Winnipeg – this type of video production will continue to be in-demand.

#3 Promotional Videos

Clients that call for this type of video have products and services to promote.  They want to find new ways to reach potential clients using online methods.   They need videos that can act as a sales and marketing tool 24/7.  While similar to “Website Videos” (above), these videos are less focused on the overall business and more focused on the details of a product, service, or brand.
Promotional videos typically consist of:
  •       Full day video shoots
  •       Interview/on camera segments
  •       Shooting B-roll footage
  •       Graphics/animations & titles
  •       Branding (Branding needs its own blog)
  •       More detailed script writing
  •       High level of creativity
This type of video can range from selling products and services to bands promoting events.   Its always interesting to see what type of promotional video will be in production next.  Most all clients want these videos produced for play online and through social media platforms.  Its rare to get a dvd request these days.

Honourable Mentions

There are a couple honourable mentions to let you know about.

Conclusion

The conclusion is simple.  Businesses want video on their homepage that sells a potential customer on their products or services.  Businesses want to greet you in person on their website with a professional quality, polished video.

While this type of video remains the most popular, there is a new type of video that I will write about in my next blog that I believe has potential (long term) to become number 1.
